Our 100% biodegradable Christmas tree netting continues to set the standard for environmentally responsible tree packaging.

We are proud to offer VacuBioNet®, a genuinely eco-conscious alternative for the Christmas tree industry. Manufactured from PLA (polylactic acid) polyester yarn, VacuBioNet® is produced using renewable plant-based resources such as fermented maize starch, sugar cane, sugar beet pulp or cassava. As a natural polymer, PLA requires significantly less energy to manufacture and generates substantially fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared with traditional petroleum-based plastics.

PLA breaks down naturally through hydrolysis, thermal and photo-degradation processes, returning to the earth without causing environmental harm. VacuBioNet® is fully biodegradable and suitable for composting in commercial composting facilities. Under laboratory conditions, PLA can also be chemically recycled back into its original monomers and remanufactured into new PLA material — supporting a true “cradle to cradle” lifecycle approach. While this advanced recycling method is not yet widely available on a commercial scale, the technology continues to develop.

Importantly, VacuBioNet® delivers the same strength, flexibility and performance as our standard LZ netting, ensuring seamless integration into existing operations. For best results, it should be stored between -10°C and +40°C, kept out of direct sunlight and used within two seasons.

Please note that VacuBioNet® must not be confused with so-called OXO-degradable plastics. OXO products are conventional petrochemical-based plastics containing additives that cause fragmentation into smaller pieces or microplastics. These materials do not fully biodegrade, are unsuitable for composting and can persist in the environment. VacuBioNet®, by contrast, is designed to biodegrade responsibly without leaving harmful residues.
